The choice on whether to vaccinate is yours alone. You alone have the right make informed health choices for your family.
Vaccines are regarded by public health officials and some medical professionals as the most important tool they have chosen to put forward to keep people “healthy.” On the other hand, after the deaths of three Vermonters last year after vaccination and measles vaccine failures causing outbreaks in Canada, an increasing number of Vermonters have concerns regarding the safety and efficacy of these injectable pharmaceutical products that are mandated for our children to attend school.

The childhood immunization schedule in Vermont and elsewhere is growing rapidly. American children are the most highly vaccinated in the world, but do our children enjoy better long term health outcomes?
Does giving more vaccines actually save lives, or do these vaccines contribute to higher infant mortality?

Even with a strong “anti-corporate personhood” movement in Vermont, we must learn to recognize the fingerprints of Big Corporations on bills that are proposed. Particularly on bills which threaten to remove basic human rights – as the vaccine bill intended. It should not be overlooked that vaccines have become the most lucrative segment of the giant pharma industry. Vaccines are made and marketed by the very same companies that make pills and spend over $50 billion on product promotion. The difference is that with vaccines, doctors and drug makers have been indemnified by the US government for all product liability. Without any vaccine liability for companies that have a track record for repeated illegal marketing and fraud, it is of dire importance that our rights to choose remain open and free. The CDC claims that parents who have concerns do not understand the science and are frightened with misconceptions. Although they seem to think we are trapped inside a bubble with no access to real science, many of us have near memorized the 2011 Institute of Medicine Report in it’s entirety. There we find that causal relationships have been established between vaccines and anaphylaxis, transient arthralgia, vaccine-strain infections and complications, deltoid bursitis and other conditions. And there we see in black and white that 85% of reported adverse vaccine reactions have still not been adequately studied. How much of an experiment is the childhood schedule?
This might be a good time to ask: What does “health” mean to you? Is it the absence of disease? Are you willing to trade a chronic condition for an acute illness? Do you wish for long term health? Is health an economic matter? As insurance companies and some government officials consider healthcare reform, will medical choice be respected?
Speaking of the government, should the government be the one to decide what sort of healthcare you may pursue? Does anyone follow up with individual families when they report a sudden vaccine reaction or death? Should the government define what you must do and which drugs to take – to be healthy – even when you are feeling completely well and healthy, because they did some financial calculations and it might save them some money (or not)?
Will you continue to have the right to choose what “health” means to you and yours?
