Vaccine Court Update

The federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, better known as “vaccine court,” has just awarded millions of dollars to two children with autism for “pain and suffering” and lifelong care of their injuries, which together could cost tens of millions of dollars. A must read. Click for article by David Kirby, 1/14/13 – Huffington Post.

The vaccine court can be a hostile place not only for petitioners but for their expert witnesses too. Read article from LA Times (2004) here.

In addition to these two new court decisions (Emily and Ryan), the Department of Justice has summarized 3 months of vaccine damage settlements dated 8/16/12 – 11/15/12. View them here (see specifically pages 17-25 for the list of vaccines the injuries for which “petitioners” were compensated). You can also search “UNPUBLISHED” Vaccine Court cases here. According to Kirby, “unpublished”  means that “information is limited, and access to medical records and other exhibits is blocked.”
